My control kit came with the 6YC multi-function gauge. This is the square gauge that takes place of all of the old, separate tach, speed, fuel management gauges. I have a question about how to calibrate the unit to know what my fuel tank capacity is. The instructions show an option for a single point calibration as well as a multi-point calibration. In both instances, the instructions say to run your fuel tank dry, then program the unit to perform the calibration of choice. Then fill your tank and you are good to go. I have about 120 gallons of gas in my tank and have no intention of draining this for the purpose of calibrating a fuel gauge. Can I choose the single point calibration, then program the unit to reflect the 155 gallon capacity of my tank when full-----then fill my tank? This is sort of how I used to initially set up my old flowscan units on older boats. I never ran the tank dry to perform the initial set-up.
If I can do this as described above, then starting with a full tank of fuel, I should be able to then run about 50 or a 100 gallons of fuel out and refill the tank. Then compare the actual amount of gas it took to fill the tank to how much the gauge said I burned. Does anybody know if I can do this with the 6YC command link gauge?
Also....not related to the fuel question posed up above. Once I get all of my new command link stuff wired and plumbed to my new (used) motor, someone has told me that I then have to have Yamaha program my new command link gauge to 'talk' to my engine before it will even turn over. Ugh. Does anybody know about this process? Is this something that has to be done? Can I do it myself? Is the software and computer to engine harness available?
I am too used to the old, non DEC engines. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Connecting your ECI-100
Connection of your ECI-100 to the Volvo Penta engine* EVC System couldn't be simpler. Depending on the age of your engine, and type of installation, Raymarine have provided 2 cabling solutions:
Newer Volvo Penta engine* EVC Systems - with an available multi-link hub
For new and recent Volvo Penta engine* EVC systems, a multi-link hub should be available. This will have 6 connections, 1 of which must be available in order to connect your ECI-100.
For this connection, you will need the Raymarine Cable Link for use with Volvo Penta* Engine (Raymarine Part Number: E70240). This cable is connected between the DeviceNet connector of the ECI-100, and the available socket on the multi-link hub for use with Volvo Penta engines*.
If a Volvo Penta engine* IPS or Aquamatic steering system is fitted, then connecting an EV-2 as shown in the diagram below will give full autopilot steering control.
For engine data only, the connection between ECI-100 and Volvo Penta engine* EVC system is identical (as shown in the diagram below) but fitting the Raymarine EV-2 is not required.
EV-2 is connected to the Raymarine backbone via a SeaTalkng spur cable (white SeaTalkng plug on EV-2 to be used).

Older Volvo Penta engine* EVC Systems - where no multi-link hub is available
For older Volvo Penta engine* EVC systems where no multi-link hub is available, it is necessary to use the E70240 Raymarine Cable Link for use with Volvo Penta* in conjunction with a Y-splitter cable (E70241). This connects into the system as per the diagram.
Connecting the cables as per the diagram below will allow the ECI-100 to interface between the Volvo Penta engine* EVC data bus, and the Raymarine navigation STng bus.
If a Volvo Penta engine* IPS or Aquamatic steering system is fitted, then connecting a Raymarine EV-2 as shown in the diagram below will give full autopilot steering control.
For engine data only, the connection between ECI-100 and Volvo Penta engine* EVC system is identical (as shown in the diagram) but fitting the Raymarine EV-2 is not required.
EV-2 is connected to the Raymarine backbone via a SeaTalkng spur cable (white SeaTalkng plug on EV-2 to be used).

Connecting your ECI-100
Connection of your ECI-100 to a compatible Yamaha engine system couldn't be simpler. Depending on the age and type of your engine, Raymarine have provided a simple single-cable solution:
For all new and recent Yamaha outboard engine systems, a multi-link hub should be available. This will have 6 connections. 1 of the device connections must be available in order to connect your ECI-100.
For this connection, you will need the Yamaha Link Cable (Raymarine Part Number: E70242). The Yamaha Link Cable is connected between the NMEA2000 (DeviceNet) connector of the ECI-100, and the available socket on the Yamaha Command-Link or Command-Link Plus hub.
For engine data only, the connection between ECI-100 and Yamaha outboard engine system is identical (as shown in the diagram below) but fitting the Raymarine EV-2 is not required.
EV-2 is connected to the Raymarine backbone via a SeaTalkng spur cable (white SeaTalkng plug on EV-2 to be used).

Typical installation
Simply insert the NMEA2000 T-piece into your Yanmar engine system network as shown in the example above. Then connect the NMEA2000 cable to the T-Piece, and the NMEA2000 (Devicenet) connector on the ECI-100.
And you’re done, it’s that simple.

Connecting your ECI-100
Connection of your ECI-100 to Caterpiller Engines couldn't be simpler. An ECI-100 is required for each Engine and a CAT Engine “Y” Link Cable (E70305) is required for each Engine link.
Remove the 12 way Deutsch connector from the rear of the CAT MPD andconnect to Y cable and ECI as below.
Connect the “Y” cable between the Deutsch 12 way CAT Display socket and the 12 way Deutsch cable connector previously removed.
Connect the other end of the Link cable to the ECI-100 DeviceNet socket. – (See diagram below)
Connect the ECI-100 into a Terminated Seatalk NG backbone with appropriate MFD.
Follow the Engine Identification Set-up procedure outlined in the (a,c,e,eS,gS) MFD manual.
Note: You cannot use legacy MFD’s to configure multi engine systems with individual ECI’s.
Note: If the ECI-100 has previously been used on another engine type it will need to be reset or use a new ECI-100. - To reset the ECI a tool is required; contact Raymarine Product Support for further information.
Compatible Caterpiller Engines
All CAT Engine installations that include the engine displays, colour MPD, MPD or mini MPD
- The colour MPD (Marine Power Display) is compatible with all currently available CAT electronically controlled marine engines from the C7 to the 3500C Series
- The MPD display is compatible with CAT 3126B to 3500B Series
Only CAT Systems with individual MPD’s dedicated for each Engine can be supported.
Engine systems without a dedicated MPD is not supported
The CAT Messenger Display is not compatible or supported.

Connecting your ECI-100
Connection of your ECI-100 to a compatible Yamaha engine system couldn't be simpler. Depending on the age and type of your engine, Raymarine have provided a simple single-cable solution:
For all new and recent Yamaha outboard engine systems, a multi-link hub should be available. This will have 6 connections. 1 of the device connections must be available in order to connect your ECI-100.
For this connection, you will need the Yamaha Link Cable (Raymarine Part Number: E70242). The Yamaha Link Cable is connected between the NMEA2000 (DeviceNet) connector of the ECI-100, and the available socket on the Yamaha Command-Link or Command-Link Plus hub.
For engine data only, the connection between ECI-100 and Yamaha outboard engine system is identical (as shown in the diagram below) but fitting the Raymarine EV-2 is not required.
EV-2 is connected to the Raymarine backbone via a SeaTalkng spur cable (white SeaTalkng plug on EV-2 to be used).

Compatible Yamaha Outboard Engine Systems
Your ECI-100 connects to Yamaha outboard engine systems, as shown in the diagram above.

These Yamaha outboard engine systems have the ability to display engine data on Raymarine’s latest generation of multifunction displays using the ECI-100.
Shown below are Yamaha engines which may have a compatible Yamaha electronic control system fitted.
Important: Not all engines have a Command-Link or Command-Link Plus system fitted as standard. Please check with your local engine dealer to ensure that you have a compatible system fitted to your boat before proceeding.

Connecting your ECI-100
Connection of your ECI-100 to a compatible Yanmar engine system couldn’t be simpler. Depending on the type of engine you have fitted, a single NMEA2000 (Devicenet) cable and NMEA2000 T-piece connector are all you need to link the ECI-100 to your Yanmar engine system.
NMEA2000 connections and T-pieces
Typical installation
Simply insert the NMEA2000 T-piece into your Yanmar engine system network as shown in the example above. Then connect the NMEA2000 cable to the T-Piece, and the NMEA2000 (Devicenet) connector on the ECI-100.
And you’re done, it’s that simple.

Connecting your ECI-100
Connection of your ECI-100 to Caterpiller Engines couldn't be simpler. An ECI-100 is required for each Engine and a CAT Engine “Y” Link Cable (E70305) is required for each Engine link.
Remove the 12 way Deutsch connector from the rear of the CAT MPD andconnect to Y cable and ECI as below.
Connect the “Y” cable between the Deutsch 12 way CAT Display socket and the 12 way Deutsch cable connector previously removed.
Connect the other end of the Link cable to the ECI-100 DeviceNet socket. – (See diagram below)
Connect the ECI-100 into a Terminated Seatalk NG backbone with appropriate MFD.
Follow the Engine Identification Set-up procedure outlined in the (a,c,e,eS,gS) MFD manual.
Note: You cannot use legacy MFD’s to configure multi engine systems with individual ECI’s.
Note: If the ECI-100 has previously been used on another engine type it will need to be reset or use a new ECI-100. - To reset the ECI a tool is required; contact Raymarine Product Support for further information.
Compatible Caterpiller Engines
All CAT Engine installations that include the engine displays, colour MPD, MPD or mini MPD
Command Link Yamaha
- The colour MPD (Marine Power Display) is compatible with all currently available CAT electronically controlled marine engines from the C7 to the 3500C Series
- The MPD display is compatible with CAT 3126B to 3500B Series
Yamaha Command Link 2004
Only CAT Systems with individual MPD’s dedicated for each Engine can be supported.
